Touring with Organic Spearmint Essential Oil - Yep, It's a Thing!

My new love is ZAQ's Spearmint Organic 100% Pure Essential Oil. I could tell you all the wonderful things spearmint essential oil can do for you, such as:

  • Speeds wound healing
  • Relieves spasms
  • Helps relieve bloating and gas
  • Relieves stress
  • Regulates menstruation
  • Disinfects
  • Boosts immune system
  • Restores health after illness or injury
  • Repels bugs

It does do all of these amazing things.  It works wonders to help my body in ways I never imagined. But, today, I am tired of being in the house.  We have had flooding and snow, thunder and pouring rain these last couple of months.  I have taken care of my sick kids, sick students at school and sick dogs at home.  I have taken care of myself when I got the flu for the second time this season (even though I had a flu shot!). So, today, I am going to talk about spearmint essential oil in a fun way.

Today, we have a snow day.  Now, first of all, you'd have to understand our snow days in Western Washington.  Mid-westerners would scoff at closing school for 3 inches of snow. We get tons (and tons and tons) of rain living on the coast, but not much snow.  When a little snow happens, we all panic and stay home. Hence, today is our snow day. I don't even want a snow day.  I want to work today.  I am tired of being cooped up in the house.  I am tired of sick people (including myself) and cleaning the house.  I am tired of laundry and tired of cooking meals everyone politely hates. So, today, I am doing none of that.

Today, while the kids slept in on our snow day, I made a cup of coffee to go, got in the car and turned on the music to what I liked.  In fact, I did it loudly.  Then, I plugged in my ZAQ Tour, The Ultimate Road Trip Diffuser no less, and set off to see the beautiful snow falling silently on our huge cedar trees. I added spearmint to my Tour Diffuser and the smell instantly brought me back to a relaxed time I remembered many years ago.

Our family had a cabin on a lake. We mostly used it during the summer when everyone could swim, have barbeques and a fire in the pit in the evening. In the winter, the huge trees around the lake would fill with snow. There was always a certain smell about snow. I can't really describe it, but when you smell it, you know.  It smells like...well, snow. If you were alone and listened, you could hear it falling.  As silent as the outdoor world could be, you were one with it. You could hear the snow fall and you could feel at peace. Time seemed to be forgotten.

Driving in my car with the smell of spearmint and the softly falling snow all around me, I was brought back to a simpler time. A time that was relaxed and patient. There was no hurry to do anything or be anywhere. I parked my car by a huge old-growth cedar tree and watched the branch become heavy. Soon, the branch couldn't hold the weight of the snow and the snow fell and made such a quiet sound as it hit the snow-covered earth beneath it. Breathing in the smell of spearmint, I hadn't felt that relaxed in months. I wondered why I hadn't done this when it rained or stormed outside.  I wondered why I didn't take time to enjoy my Tour Diffuser more often. I didn't have to actually go anywhere. I just needed to slow down and appreciate life a little more.

As I sat for the next hour in my car, reading a book, watching the snow fall and enjoying the smell of spearmint, I told myself what a wonderful life I have and how much I appreciate everything around me.

Yes, spearmint does so many wonderful things but sometimes, you have to use it to simply enjoy yourself and for no other reason. Choose your favorite essential oil, grab a book and appreciate all the wonderful things about you.   I guarantee it will make your day.

Happy March everyone!
